Resize image to 50 KB (compress JPG for online forms)

Bring a photo under 50 KB for an exam, job or admission form. The whole picture is kept: the tool lowers the quality first and reduces the width and height only if it must. Nothing is uploaded.

How to resize an image to 50 KB

  1. Tap Choose an image and pick your photo.
  2. Keep 50 KB selected, or choose the limit your form asks for.
  3. The tool finds the best quality that fits. Tap Download JPG.

What usually has to be under 50 KB

Passport-style photos and thumb impressions on many recruitment forms: IBPS-style forms, for example, ask for a photo and a left thumb impression of 20 to 50 KB. Always check the official notification of your exam, because sizes change.

Some forms set a minimum as well, such as "between 20 and 50 KB", or an exact size in pixels. The photo and signature resizer handles both.

Resize or compress?

Resizing changes the width and height of a picture; compressing changes how much detail is kept in the file. To get under 50 KB with the least visible change, this tool compresses first and only resizes when compressing alone isn't enough. Tick Keep the width and height if your form needs the original pixel size.

Tips for a sharp photo at 50 KB

  • Take the photo against a plain, light wall: busy backgrounds use up the 50 KB.
  • Crop to your head and shoulders before compressing.
  • Use the camera photo itself, not a screenshot of it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere. dedigger only counts which limit was chosen.

Why is the file a little under 50 KB?

So it passes both ways of counting a kilobyte: 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. A form that checks either way accepts it.

Can I compress a PNG or a screenshot?

Yes. The result is always a JPG, the format forms accept; transparent parts turn white.

Other limits: compress an image to 20 KB or 100 KB.
