Compress image to 20 KB (photo and signature for forms)
Get a photo, signature or thumb impression under 20 KB for an online form. The whole picture is kept: the quality goes down first, and the picture gets smaller only if it has to. Your image never leaves your device.
How to compress an image to 20 KB
- Tap Choose an image and pick the photo or signature, or take one with your camera.
- Keep 20 KB selected, or choose the limit your form asks for.
- For a signature or thumb impression, tick Black and white.
- Check the result and tap Download JPG. Your original stays as it is.
What usually has to be under 20 KB
Many bank and recruitment forms, such as IBPS-style forms, ask for a signature of 10 to 20 KB and a photo of 20 to 50 KB. Requirements change between exams and from year to year, so always check the official notification before you upload.
If your form also gives an exact size in pixels, such as 140 × 60 for a signature, use the photo and signature resizer: it crops to that size and keeps the file within the KB range.
If the picture doesn't look good at 20 KB
- Crop it first. Cut the picture down to the signature or your face with your phone's editor: the fewer pixels there are, the sharper they can be at 20 KB.
- Black and white saves a lot of space on signatures and documents.
- A plain background compresses much better than a busy one.
- Start from the original photo, not a screenshot or a picture sent through a chat app.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is compressed in your browser and never sent to dedigger or anyone else. dedigger only counts which limit was chosen.
Why does my phone show a different size?
Some apps count a kilobyte as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. The tool keeps your file under 20 KB counted with 1,000 bytes, so it is also under 20 KB when a site counts 1,024.
Will my picture be cut off?
No. This tool never crops. If you need an exact width and height, use the photo and signature resizer.
