VTU changed its conversion formula with the 2022 scheme, so the same CGPA gives a different percentage depending on your batch. Choose your scheme and type your CGPA.

Each scheme links to its official source. Both the 2021 and the 2022 regulations use a CGPA of 8.20 as their example: 74.5% with the 2021 formula and 82.0% with the 2022 one. These formulas are for the B.E. and B.Tech regulations; other VTU programmes have their own regulations.
How to tell your scheme
Your scheme is set by the year you were admitted, and it shows in your subject codes:
- Codes that start with a year, such as 18CS32 or 21CS32, belong to that year's scheme: 2018 and 2021 in these examples.
- Codes that start with B, such as BCS301 or BMATS101, belong to the 2022 scheme.
If you study at an autonomous college, it may follow its own regulations, so check its grade card or ask its examination section.
First class and distinction
In both the 2021 and the 2022 regulations, VTU works out your class from the percentage, after you complete the programme: First Class with Distinction from 70%, First Class from 60% and Second Class from 50%.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert my SGPA with the same formula?
The regulations give the formula for the final CGPA. Before you use it for one semester's SGPA on a form, ask your college whether that is accepted.
Is my CGPA sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to dedigger or anyone else.
