Google Drive direct download link generator
Paste the sharing link of a file on Google Drive to get a link that downloads it straight away, exports a Google Doc as PDF or Word, opens a clean preview or makes a copy of a template.
Paste a Google Drive, Docs, Sheets or Slides link.
What you can make from a Drive link
| Your link | Links you get |
|---|---|
| A file on Drive (PDF, image, video, ZIP…) | Direct download, clean preview, embed code |
| Google Docs | Make a copy, PDF, Word, preview |
| Google Sheets | Make a copy, Excel, PDF, CSV, preview |
| Google Slides | Make a copy, PowerPoint, PDF, slideshow |
| A folder | Folder link and a grid view to embed |
How to get the sharing link
- In Google Drive, open the file's menu (⋮) and choose Share, then Copy link.
- Under General access, choose Anyone with the link. Otherwise the new links only work for you and the people you shared the file with.
- Paste the link above and copy the one you need.
Good to know
- These links don't change who can see the file. They work only for people who could already open it.
- Big files show a Google page saying the file is too large to scan for viruses, with a Download anyway button. That is normal.
- "Make a copy" links are the easiest way to share a template: whoever opens it gets their own copy to edit, and your original stays as it is.
- Found a template with dedigger? Paste its link here to download it as Word, Excel or PDF, or to save your own copy.
Frequently asked questions
Is my link sent anywhere?
No. The links are made in your browser. dedigger only counts which kind of link was copied, never the link itself.
Can I get a direct link to a whole folder?
No. Google Drive has no single download link for a folder. Open the folder and use Download, which makes a ZIP file.
Why does the download link open a page instead of downloading?
Usually because the file isn't shared with "Anyone with the link", or because it is too big for Google's virus scan. Check the sharing settings, or use the Download anyway button.
